Tennessee ends first-half scoring drought, beats Kentucky, 28-18

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Kentucky Wildcats managed to get on the board first against the Vols, Brock Vandagriff found Josh Kattus for a 27-yard touchdown pass with 5:28 left in the first quarter. 

The Vols once again struggled in the first half, their fourth straight game without scoring a point in the first quarter. However, Josh Heupel's squad scored later in the first half, on a Peyton Lewis one-yard rush with 4:45 left in the second quarter. 

The touchdown is the first of Lewis' career. Kentucky managed to knock in a 32-yard field goal, with under 30 seconds left to make it a 10-7 score at the half. 

In the second half, Tennessee struck first with a Dylan Sampson 7-yard touchdown run. The touchdown tied the program record of 18 rushing touchdowns in a single season. Sampson's touchdown gave the Vols a 14-10 lead. 

Just before the fourth quarter, Tennesse's defense came up big again. Will Brooks added a 66-yard interception that led to a Miles Kitselaman touchdown. Tennessee took a 21-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter. 

Kentucky did not go down easy, the Cats marched down the field right after and scored on a Maclin,Ja'Mori 32-yard touchdown catch. The Cats went for two and made it a 21-18 ball game with 13:26 left in the game.
