Sick of staying inside? Clark Center Park in Oak Ridge to reopen May 1

The U.S. Department of Energy said that the park will be open between 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. every day starting May 1.

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — The Department of Energy said that it would reopen Clark Center Park on Friday, May 1. The front gate will be open for visitors between 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily, according to a release from the DOE.

The park is on the DOE federal Oak Ridge Reservation, at 2000 Bull Bluff Road.

Last week, Governor Bill Lee said he would allow Tennessee's stay-at-home order to expire after April 30, allowing some businesses and facilities to gradually reopen. Many state parks already reopened on April 24, with restrictions to slow the spread of coronavirus and keep visitors healthy.

While Clark Center Park will reopen for visitors, several amenities in the park will stay closed. Visitors will not be able to use restrooms, ball fields, playgrounds or the pavilion area.

The park is 80 acres large and also gives visitors access to the Gallaher Bend Greenway. It is also pet-friendly.
