Sullivan County authorities had been searching for the car in question, a 2007 BMW, in an effort to obtain information on missing 15-month-old Evelyn Boswell.
The 2007 BMW had been reported stolen, according to the owner. Authorities said Evelyn’s mother, Megan Boswell, intended on purchasing the vehicle for her mother, Angela. Sullivan County deputies said no purchase agreement was ever completed and no money was ever exchanged.
Wilkes County deputies located the vehicle in Traphill, North Carolina, on Friday. The two were arrested and have been housed in the Wilkes County Jail.
In court, Angela Boswell told the judge she wanted to return home to look for her granddaughter.
McCloud told a judge in court neither he nor Angela Boswell knew the car had not been paid for and had been given the vehicle by Megan Boswell. He referred to Angela Boswell as his girlfriend. He also claimed he did not know about the AMBER Alert investigation.
