SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. — Sevier County leaders said county commissioners are expected to appoint a candidate to the seat of a commissioner who recently passed away.
Sevier County Commissioner Frank Parton was 88-years-old when he died on Saturday.
Parton was first elected not the Board of County Commissioners in 2006 and was in the middle of serving his fifth term. Sevier County leaders said Parton was an active member of the education, steering and senior citizens committees.
Whomever is appointed to Parton's seat will serve until the end of his term in 2026, according to Sevier County Public Affairs Director, Tyler Basler. Then, the seat will be up for election.
The next Sevier County Commissioners meeting is scheduled for later in November.
