Sevierville police ask for information in deadly I-40 hit and run

According to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers, Craig Olocott, 61, was in Jefferson County on Oct. 29 before traveling to Morristown, where he left his car.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers is asking for information related to the death of a 61-year-old man found unresponsive on I-40 in Sevierville back on Oct. 30.

According to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers, Craig Olcott, 61, was in Jefferson County on Oct. 29 before traveling to Morristown, where he left his car. 

Sevierville police believe Olcott was killed the next day in a hit and run crash on I-40 east between mile markers 407 and 408. 

Olcott was found unresponsive on the highway around 10:20 p.m. after someone called 911 when they saw him laying on the side of the road.  He was taken to University of Tennessee Medical Center but died later that evening. 

Police believe his injuries are consistent with being hit by a car or trailer being towed. 

Police are urging anyone who might have seen him on Oct. 29 or Oct. 30, given him a ride, have information or in-car video related to the incident, to send tips to Crime Stoppers. Anyone with a tip can call 865-215-7165 or visit their website
