Sevierville police looking for driver in deadly I-40 hit and run

Police dispatchers got a 911 call around 10:20 p.m. from a passing motorist about a person lying on the side of I-40.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Sevierville police are investigating a deadly hit and run on I-40 from Wednesday night. 

Police dispatchers got a 911 call around 10:20 p.m. from a passing motorist about a person lying on the side of I-40 between mile markers 407 and 408. When officers arrived, the person had injuries consistent with being struck by a car or trailer being towed by a car. 

Police said the victim, Craig Olcott, 61, was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by ambulance. Olcott later died and an autopsy is expected to be performed. 

Investigators ask anyone with information pertaining to the crash is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Graham Brantley at 865-868-1748.
