MORGAN COUNTY, Tenn. — A Tennessee Highway Patrol captain is recovering after being injured in a crash on Highway 62 as she was responding to tornado damage in Morgan County on Tuesday.
According to the preliminary crash report, Capt. Stacey Heatherly was driving west on Highway 62 in Morgan County when a pickup truck driving east crossed over the center line and hit her SUV around 7:15 p.m.
Both Heatherly and the other driver were injured in the crash, according to the report. THP said Heatherly was recovering and was in "good spirits."
According to the report, the 33-year-old driver of the pickup truck could face charges for failing to maintain their lane of travel pending the outcome of the investigation.
