BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff's Office said a man is facing a murder charge after a shooting victim died over the weekend.
Benjamin Absher, 29, is charged with criminal murder connected to the killing of Sammy E. Garland Jr.
BCSO said Garland Jr. was shot on May 8 at a home on Samples Road in Louisville. The sheriff's office said deputies found 63-year-old Garland Jr. outside the home with a gunshot wound, and he was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Absher has been in custody since that initial shooting.
BCSO said Absher is being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $1 million bond. He's scheduled to be in court on June 6.
