BLOUNT COUNTY, Tenn. — The Blount County Sheriff's Office said a man was in custody and another man was dead after a shooting Wednesday morning.
Initially, the sheriff's office said the man was in critical condition. On Tuesday, it said he died over the weekend.
BCSO said at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, deputies responded to a home on Samples Road after getting a call saying there had just been a shooting. They were joined by officers from the Alcoa Police Department who helped find the suspect — Benjamin Absher, 29, from Louisville.
Absher was taken into custody. The sheriff's office said deputies also found a 63-year-old man outside the home with a gunshot wound. The man was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
BCSO said Absher was being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $200,000 bond and was charged with attempted criminal homicide. After the 63-year-old died, the sheriff's office said it was working on amending charges and Absher's bond amount.
