KFD, Rural Metro responds to multiple calls for service during storms and flooding in Knox County

More rain is expected throughout the day on Wednesday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Fire Department has shared the calls of service it received during storms that brought flooding to Knoxville Tuesday afternoon.

KFD said they responded to 109 calls during the whole day on Tuesday. 9 involved down powerlines, 6 involved water, 18 fire alarm calls and one rescue. 

Rural Metro said it responded to 10 weather-related car accidents. Two of the accidents involved trees falling onto cars, but none were serious. 

More storms are expected throughout the day on Wednesday.

"With these afternoon storms, people need to be aware of the road conditions when they become wet or have sudden standing water on them. Also, be aware of those areas and roads that are prone to flash flooding," Rural Metro said.
