KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On March 21, the Knox County Sheriff's Office said two people were arrested following a carjacking incident that ended with a stolen car wrecked on Andersonville Pike and schools in the Halls Crossroads area put on soft lockdown.
Around a week later, the victim in that incident said she was still nervous about leaving the house. Tina McFall said she spent most of the time following the carjacking with her family at home.
"I was definitely a little nervous. Just pulling up here, it just reminded me of everything that happened. I definitely don't think I'll ever be able to pull in this area again and have good feelings," she said. "It's kind of impacted a lot, actually. I thought that I was doing everything right."
Her car was stolen while she was parked in front of Summit Towners to pick up Tyler Christian, 32, and Elizabeth Terry, 31. She said she was going to take them to the bus station when they forced her out of the car and drove off.
"It's very scary. But a little bit of me feels like I won. I'm here safe and driving a car, and they're in jail — hopefully for a very long time," she said. "I know they're arrested. And I know they're not coming for me. But, I just, I hear a loud noise and it scares me."
She said she wanted to help people in a situation that she was in, and is now recovering from. She said she is recovering from substance abuse and addiction and plans to use the incident as motivation to continue her recovery journey.
"I'm one of them people that give people chances, because I was one of them people at one time that needed chances. And, sometimes, I didn't get them," she said. "It's either gonna be a setback, or it's gonna be a motivational push. And it's definitely motivated me to push forward."
