The first game of the season saw temperatures in the 90's as multiple fans were taken to the hospital for heat-related issues, AMR says

The first Vols game of the season saw heat indexes nearing 100 degrees, and according to AMR, "it was a very busy game due to the heat."

So far, AMR hasn't reached the county's goal of 90% success in response times.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Twelve fans were transported to the hospital during the third quarter of the first Vol game of the season, according to an American Medical Response (AMR) spokesperson.

During kickoff for the Vols vs. UT-Chattanooga Mocs matchup on Saturday, it was 88 F with a heat index of 92 F. That temperature rose to nearly 94 F, and it felt like 98 F based on data from the National Weather Service.

"We did have a quite a few heat-related calls," the AMR spokesperson wrote in an email. "We took a lot of people to the KFD bus to cool down and some where transported...It was a very busy game due to the heat."
