Gatlinburg Skylift Park, SkyBridge to suspend operations due to spread of COVID-19

The park will suspend operations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. It closed at 10 p.m. Tuesday and will stay closed until further notice.

GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Gatlinburg's Skylift Park is suspending its operations to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, following recommendations from health officials.

The park closed at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, and no information is available as to when it will reopen.

Health leaders are urging people to avoid crowds and the Center for Disease Control said that gatherings expecting 50 or more people should cancel.

Skylift Park features SkyBridge, located at the top of the park. It is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in North America, and it's a highlight for many people who visit Gatlinburg. The bridge stands 140 feet high at its midpoint.

All SkyLift Park tickets will remain valid for up to one year after the date of purchase, according to a press release. It also said that the park is expected to reopen, but a specific date has not been determined.
