A community that cares | Morgan County comes together against coronavirus fears

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office delivered food to at-risk homes, while schools worked to make sure no child went hungry.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — By Tuesday, March 17, there were 73 reported cases of coronavirus in Tennessee. Although there were no reported cases in Morgan County, fears about COVID-19 spread through the community.

So, officials and community members banded together to protect the county's at-risk citizens. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office began delivering food to homes with vulnerable people in an effort to ensure they stayed from coronavirus, according to a post on the sheriff's Facebook page.

Even though Morgan County Schools were also closed, the county worked to make sure no student went hungry. Starting Tuesday, breakfast will be served between 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. at six Morgan County schools as grab n' go meals. Lunch will also be served between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Schools across the state are working to make sure kids can eat, too.
