JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — East Tennessee State University is asking East Tennesseans to document their personal experiences of living through the COVID-19 pandemic in the region and become a part of history.
"Telling Your Story: Documenting COVID-19 in East Tennessee" was created to be a gathering place to add your story of how you, your family, and your friends are experiencing the current reality, according to ETSU.
The university said the submissions will be housed at the school's Center for Appalachian Studies and Services, which includes the Archives of Appalachia.
Archives director Jeremy Smith said people are invited to share diaries, writings, photographs, videos, social media posts, business correspondences and other items about living through COVID-19 times.
Ways to share:
- Write: keep a diary or write poetry
- Create art: draw or paint
- Photograph your environment or your community
- Maintain records from your business that document how it responded to the crisis (social media graphics, e-mail or mail correspondence, business announcements, etc.)
- Start a video blog or record your thoughts
- Save your social media posts
Files can be submitted online via email to archives@etsu.edu or they can be mailed to the Archives of Appalachia.
