KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A suspect in a gas station shooting is now in custody and faces two charges, according to Knox County records.

20-year-old Robert Steed is charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in connection to a July 20 shooting.

The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) says the shooting happened at the Shell Gas Station on Summit Hill Drive in Knoxville.

According to records, officers arrived at the scene after a reported shooting where they found Steed with a gunshot wound. In records, the officer says Steed had allegedly conducted a drive-by shooting at a home earlier in the day.

Records say Steed ran into the homeowner at the gas station later in the day, which resulted in a confrontation.

The other man has been identified as 23-year-old Dereke Upton. Last month, Upton was charged with aggravated assault in connection to the shooting.

According to records, Steed allegedly fired multiple shots at Upton and was injured by his own firearm.
