KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department said a 53-year-old man was stabbed in Krutch Park on Monday night, two days after a separate stabbing in the same downtown park.
KPD responded to the park around 10:50 p.m. The victim was found with a stab wound to the stomach and told officers he was stabbed following a personal dispute with a person he'd known for an extended time, according to KPD.
Officers located the suspect, driving a motorized wheelchair, on Locust Street near Summit Towers. The suspect was identified as 56-year-old Kevin Self, KPD said.
Self admitted to stabbing the victim and still had the knife he used on him, according to KPD.
The department said they don't believe Self was involved in the stabbing that happened in Krutch Park on June 1.
"By all indications, this incident resulted entirely from a personal dispute and there was no larger threat to the public," KPD said.
Self was charged with aggravated assault and the victim was transported to a hospital with injuries that aren't expected to be life-threatening, according to KPD.
