GCSD: Woman hospitalized after shooting in Greene County home

Deputies initially responded to the home on reports of a burglary. The woman later called authorities saying she had been shot twice.

GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Greene County Sheriff's Department is investgating after a 24-year-old woman was found with two gunshot wounds early Friday morning.

Around 3:40 a.m., deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a home in the 7000 block of Old Stage Road. 

According to GCSD, a caller said that someone got into his house and that he went into their neighbor's house to call for help because his girlfriend was still inside.

About 10 minutes later, a woman from that house called saying she had been shot twice.

Deputies then arrived at the scene to find the 24-year-old with gunshot wounds to her hand and back.

The woman was then flown to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. GCSD said she is in stable condition.

A suspect is unknown at this time.
