US Marshal: Man accused in Grainger County double homicide in custody

Suspect Aaron White has been on the run since late May after two bodies were found in a Bean Station mobile home.

GRAINGER COUNTY, Tenn. — The man accused in the deaths of two men in Grainger County is in custody Wednesday afternoon after a weeks-long search, according to United States Marshal David Jolley.

According to Jolley, officials did not suspect Aaron White, 34, had gone far, which is when the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, US Marshals and locals conducted ground searches Wednesday morning.

Authorities later found and captured White at his home on Dublin Lane, Jolley said.

He spent more than a month on the run, after the bodies of Jon Atkins, 49, and Deven McDaniel, 32, were found dead in a Bean Station mobile home along Rocky Springs Road. White was found around 50 days later, only 15 minutes from the scene of the crime.

Aaron White taken into custody Wednesday, July 10. He's wanted for two homicides in Grainger County.

Authorities said they found White was operating on foot and likely slipping back into his home on different occasions.

Atkins' and McDaniel's causes of death were not known as of Wednesday. Neither was White's motive.

Authorities have been searching for weeks but could not locate him.

He was placed on TBI's Most Wanted List and a reward was offered for information leading up to his arrest. The US Marshals offered up to a $2,500 reward and the TBI offered a $2,500 reward, bringing the total reward up to $5,000.

The United States Marshals Service announced Friday they are adding $2,500 to TBI's initial reward of $2,500, bringing the total to $5,000.

White has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide, according to TBI.

This is a developing story.
