Architects, developers to be given awards for keeping Knoxville beautiful at Orchid Awards on Tuesday

Keep Knoxville Beautiful is hosting the 38th annual Orchids Beautification Awards.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville has new construction projects and renovations planned across the city. So, Keep Knoxville Beautiful is rewarding companies and people that try to keep it clean as it develops.

The Orchids Beautification Awards are meant to highlight people beautifying the city. This year, there will be over 300 attendees and Mandi McKay, Sustainability Manager for Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, will give the keynote address. 

It will be held at The Press Room from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tickets to attend the awards are sold out, and cocktail tickets sales have ended.

The award has been presented to architects, construction companies, developers and artists since it was first given out in 1979. This year Jessica Rococker, Keep Knoxville Beautiful president, will also discuss the organization's new education plans.

Dwight Van de Vate, community development director for Knox County, will be honored with the Felicia Award. KUB and the Miller's Building will also be honored for contributions on Gay Street.
