PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — "The Dolly Parton Experience" is officially opened. The interactive museum has different elements to make guests feel as if they were alongside Dolly as she journeyed from Locust Ridge to stages around the world.
It also provides guests with more Dolly than ever, as it is three times the size of the former Chasing Rainbows Museum, according to Dollywood.
"It's been a long three years in the making," Eugene Naughton, the president of Dollywood, said. "It's three times larger than anything we've ever done and created before. But overall, it's a real collection of memories and stories and not just physical things."
Housed in multiple buildings, the multi-faceted Dolly Parton Experience includes three distinct experiences: "Songteller," "Behind the Seams" and "Precious Memories."
"Songteller" is a walk-through journey of exhibits spanning Dolly's life and iconic career, including the inspiration for and results of her biggest dreams. "Behind the Seams" explores a selection of Dolly's signature style through the years and a behind-the-scenes look of the creative process. "Precious Memories" shares the importance of faith and her family.
Dolly also took the stage at Dollywood to announce her upcoming family album and docuseries. The album will be called "Dolly Parton and Family: Smoky Mountain DNA - Family, Faith & Fables," which takes you on a journey through her family's musical history and heritage from the United Kingdom to East Tennessee.
Due to the high demand, a complimentary times entry ticket will be required to visit any day from Friday, May 24 to Sunday, June 2, according to Dollywood. You can register here.
