Another Lee University student is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Jordan Smith on NBC's singing competition The Voice.

Jared Herzog, who is from Niceville, Florida, runs cross country at the school located in Cleveland, Tennessee. He performed Dan + Shay's "Speechless" while also playing his guitar during the Blind Auditions this week.

Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and John Legend all turned their chairs to compete to get Herzog on their team.

Herzog chose Legend as his coach, who jokingly promised a dinner at home with his wife Crissy Teigen

Jordan Smith, who is from Harlan, Ky., was a member of the Voices of Lee chorus at the school before he won season 9 of The Voice.

Singers with East Tennessee ties have previously done well on The Voice, with Knoxville's Chris Blue winning season 12 and Emily Ann Roberts finishing second to Jordan Smith on season 9.
