He spent two months in Hollywood, and since he's left, the town of Harlan will never be the same again.
Monday, it was a homecoming fit for their hometown hero. From a parade to the stage, Harlan County honored season nine of "The Voice" winner, Jordan Smith.
They recognized him as a Kentucky Colonel, an honorary coal miner, gave him the keys to the city and even dedicated a wing of his former high school in his name.
Fans big and small lined the streets to show their support of the Harlan County native.
"It's pretty surreal," said supporter Andrea Tuttle. "Now he is a real local celebrity from here, and it's wonderful seeing Harlan County represented by somebody as great as him."
Not everyone may know Smith personally, but supports say they have been touched by his journey.
"We have a lot to be proud of in Harlan, but we've had some downfalls lately," Dianna Tipton said. "This is something that we have all managed to get behind and pull together and it's just been wonderful. We couldn't be more proud."
All eyes in Jordan's direction, not once did he lose the humble character that has lead a country and town to love him.
"Getting to meet all these people, they're amazing," Smith said. "They've made me the person I am, and they've voted me through this each week. They're the reason I have this win."
Jordan says he will head back out to Los Angeles in January to begin writing and recording new music.
