KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville community will have a chance to spend time with friends and family during a fun event meant to promote physical activity and community interaction.
Open Streets Knoxville 2024 detours vehicles from the streets to connect community members with local businesses and organizations. This creates space for people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, dance and more.
Different from a street festival, Open Streets gives residents the opportunity to explore their neighborhood and access local businesses in a safe, fun and family-friendly way. The event encourages the use of active transportation and healthy living and has the goal of allowing residents to reimagine the streets as public spaces, according to Open Streets.
All city streets will be closed to traffic and open to walkers as the goal of Open Streets is to have at least one mile of Knoxville streets open for people to enjoy.
They are also partnering with the Cattywampus Puppet Council to bring their annual parade. You can read more about the parade and block party here.
