Historic Ramsey House to host Christmas Marketplace event on Saturday, helping bring in holiday season

The Christmas Marketplace will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Ramsey House. It will be free to the public.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A historic site in East Knox County is bringing in the holiday season with its annual Christmas Marketplace, set to start Saturday morning.

The Ramsey House said it would welcome a variety of vendors and artisans for the event, giving people an early chance to grab gifts and any holiday needs they may have from local makers. It also said the event would include food, entertainment and $10 tours of the historic home.

It was built in 1797 for Francis Alexander Ramsey, a Colonel who was also one of the founding trustees of Blount College, which later became the University of Tennessee. He is also a member of one of the first families in the area that developed East Tennessee's civic, educational and cultural institutions.

People can book a tour of the Historic Ramsey House online if they aren't able to take a tour during the Christmas Marketplace. It is located at 2614 Thorn Grove Pike in Knoxville.
