It works to preserve East Tennessee's Celtic and Appalachian history and culture.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn — The sound of East Tennessee music played Sunday night at the historic Ramsey House in Knoxville.

It works to preserve East Tennessee's Celtic and Appalachian history and culture.

Unlike some historical sites, the Ramsey House is private and self-funded. So it's events like this that helps them raise money to keep their doors open.

"A lot of these folks are from Knoxville, but some of them have actually come over from North Carolina or Nashville or Chattanooga, so it's a chance for them to explore the local history here as well as enjoy some really good music," Ramsey House executive director Kelley Weatherley-Sinclair said.

The house was built in 1797 for Colonel Francis Alexander Ramsey, a man of Scotch-Irish descent.
