This time of year, everyone is wondering if we could possibly have a white Christmas in East Tennessee. The answer, most of the time, is, no.
However, this year is different, #2020. We are actually tracking winter weather for today. Cold air will be spilling in this afternoon and that will change rain to snow anytime after Noon. Check out the timeline below. We started the morning with heavy rain where many picked up over 1".
Now we are watching that cold air, and it is cold! The rain will switch to snow this afternoon and some could see a snowfall rate of up to 1-2" per hour. So conditions look to deteriorate into the evening hours.

A second round of snow showers is expected Christmas Eve night into Christmas morning. And it will definitely be much colder on Christmas with highs staying below freezing in the upper 20s. So bundle up and dress warmly!!
