People who need a place to stay safe and warm can go to a temporary shelter located at 733 West Main Street in Morristown.

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — A warming center is open in Morristown and is expected to stay open until Jan. 2, 2024, as colder weather moves in East Tennessee.

The warming center is located at 733 West Main Street in Morristown and is named the Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter. The program is open to all men, women, and families experiencing homelessness, according to its website. It also said people are not required to have an ID, a birth certificate or a social security card to enter its program.

Flurries moved into some parts of East Tennessee on Friday, and temperatures were expected to stay in the 40s and low-30s on Saturday. Lows were expected to reach the mid-20s on Jan. 2.

People in Knoxville also have options when it comes to finding a warm place to stay. The Knoxville-Knox County Office of Housing Stability said people in need of a warming center in the area can call the Knoxville Police Department at 865-215-4010 to find a warming center located near them.
