NASHVILLE, Tenn. — One person is dead and many more are injured after a majority of Tennessee and Southern Kentucky dealt with severe weather on May 8. WSMV, an NBC affiliate near Nashville, provided a timeline of the damage throughout Middle Tennessee.
According to WSMV, at around 8:15 a.m. CDT, a home in Greenbrier was hit by lighting. WSMV said the Greenbrier Fire Department responded to the scene and got the damage under control. Traffic lights in the area were also going in and out according to the station.
At around 4 p.m. CDT a tree fell on a home in Robertson County, with multiple houses being damaged, according to WSMV.
Around 6 p.m. CDT, the Maury County Emergency Management Agency reported several properties being damaged, with some people trapped in structures. Multiple areas were then impacted by flooding in Sumner County, with swift water rescues ensuing after.
At 7 p.m. multiple injuries were reported in Maury County along with downed power lines and and trees, said WSMV. Multiple rescues were underway in Maury County at around 7:30 p.m. CDT, the station said.
Maury Regional Health Center reported one death and another in serious condition among five patients around 8 p.m. CDT as storms swept through the area, said WSMV.
