Strong winds and heavy downpours moved through East Tennessee Sunday morning causing some power outages in the area.
6 PM UPDATE: Most KUB customers have power restored, with only 169 still without power. Those without power may have to wait as crews face challenges like ice, working in mud and isolated areas. Some may be without power into Monday, and the company said people without service are encouraged to make lodging plans. KUB's online outage map showed more than 6,000 people without power around 7:00 a.m.
KUB said around 6,400 people were without power at the height of the storm. A total of 25 crew members are working to assess the damage, clear debris and restore power.
Alcoa Electric's online outage map showed about 400 people without power Sunday morning. That number is holding steady.
Fort Loudon's online outage map showed more than 100 residences without power. That number is holding steady.
WBIR's weather team is following the changing weather conditions. The winds are dying down, but the rain continues. The potential for light ice and snow accumulations exists for some areas of the plateau.
