COCKE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency announced it will be opening a third resource center for people impacted by Hurricane Helene in Cocke County.

The new Multi-Agency Resource Center will be located at the Cocke County Recreation Department at 466 Learning Road/Way in Newport. The center will be staffed by people from FEMA and other federal and state agencies to ensure people have access to available resources during the recovery process.

The center will be open Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.

TEMA said the new Newport location will be the third MARC established after Helene. The other resource centers are located in Elizabethton at 1749 Highway 19E, and in Jonesborough at 306 Forest Drive.

FEMA, the Small Business Administration, TEMA, the American Red Cross, the Tennessee Department of Human Services, and other agencies will have representatives at the three locations. TEMA said the Tennessee Department of Veteran Services isn't available at the Cocke County location yet.

People affected by Helene in Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi and Washington counties are eligible to apply for FEMA individual assistance. You can learn more at this link or by calling 1-800-621-3362.
