KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — After historic flooding swept away some rural communities in upper East Tennessee, some high school football teams are taking steps to support people in the region.
Seymour High School said during its Friday game against South Greene, buckets would be set up at entry gates to collect cash donations that support hurricane relief.
Jefferson County is also letting the Greeneville High School team practice on its field and is providing players with meals. The Greene County area was impacted by the flooding, and most of the county remained without running water on Thursday. The Greeneville coach said the Dandridge Ruby Tuesday provided lunch for the team.
He also said the Anderson County High School football program brought water to the Greene County area, loading its truck with cases.
