Gatlinburg issues open burning ban

Camp fire.

Due to the severe drought conditions in East Tennessee, Gatlinburg has issued a burn ban for the city.

The city's fire department decided the dry conditions and increased fuel load from fall foliage is creating potentially hazardous fire conditions.

Officials plan to re-evaluate conditions on November 15 to decide whether to end the ban. The fire department won't be issuing any burn permits until the ban is lifted.
