KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The heat will continue today and tomorrow with excessive heat and humidity combining to produce heat index values (what it feels like outside) over 100 degrees.
A HEAT ADVISORY will be in effect again on today from noon to 8 p.m. for most of East Tennessee. Heat index values are expected to range from 104° to 109° during peak heating in the afternoon.
**With highs in the middle 90s and heat indices in the triple digits through Thursday, make sure you are staying safe in the heat and taking frequent breaks! Spend more time indoors if possible. And make sure you are staying adequately hydrated with water and sports drinks to help keep your body cool**
We will see heat indices staying above 100° through at least Thursday before a break in the heat wave arrives later Friday night into Saturday as a cold front sweeps through.
Heat relief is on the way by this Father's Day Weekend as a cold front brings in cooler and less humid air into our region! Enjoy the break from the heat and humidity this weekend, because the heat looks to return into next week.
So while we all wait on that cooler air to arrive this weekend, make sure you and others are staying safe in the heat and keeping cool and hydrated!
