KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Severe storms swept through East Tennessee on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
The first round of severe storms hit the East Tennessee region late Wednesday morning, bringing large hail and damages to several East Tennessee communities.
A tornado warning was issued for Grainger and Hamblen counties around 10:30 a.m. and expired at 11 a.m. Several counties were placed under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning alert around the same time.
At around 6:35 p.m., the Tennessee Department of Transportation also said SR 343 was closed in Hamblen County due to downed power lines.
A home on Quillen Drive in Morristown was damaged during the first round of severe storms. Claiborne County Mayor Joe Brooks said one person died after a tree fell on a car in the Lone Mountain area.
Brooks also noted that crews are working to clear multiple trees that fell in the area.
Multiple viewers sent us pictures of large hail. The National Weather Service said some hail was "tennis ball-sized."

In Granger County, a tomato farmer said he suffered crop loss after storms ripped into more than a dozen greenhouses.
The second round of storms started to impact the region at around 9 p.m., putting a few counties into Tornado Warnings. Throughout the night, most of the region was under a Tornado Watch and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning — bringing constant flashes of lightning.
The final round of severe weather hit the area early Thursday morning. There were a few Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in southern East Tennessee and viewers sent pictures of downed trees. Many schools have a delayed start on Thursday or are closed due to flooding and storm damage.
