KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The National Weather Service said most of East Tennessee was under a severe thunderstorm watch Monday night.
They also issued a tornado warning for the Hawkins County area Monday night, lasting until around 10:30 p.m. That warning was initially issued in the Church Hills, Eidson and Surgonsville areas. Later, a tornado warning was also issued for Greene County lasting the same amount of time.
In total, tornado warnings were issued in Greene, Hawkins, Sullivan and Washington counties until they expired at 10:30 p.m.
Storms spread through the area bringing the threat of dangerous winds, hail and possible flooding.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were also issued in parts of East Tennessee, especially in the area of Greene County, Grainger County, Cocke County, Jefferson County, Hamblen County and Hawkins County until around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
A Flash Flood Warning was also issued for Anderson County, Hancock County, Hawkins County, Grainger County, Jefferson County, Knox County and Union County until 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
