Rescue crews in Hawkins County rescued three people who were trapped in a van by flood waters.
The driver quickly got into a scary situation on Big Elm Road, by not realizing how deep the water was.
"Drove down the road, what they thought was the roadway. Once they hit water too deep, the van actually went over into a ditch," said Captain Jim Carter of the Kingsport Fire Department.
Rescue crews were able to get the two adults and a child in the van to safety, just in time.
"There was a point where the van started moving and if it had gotten out into the main channel of the river, it would have went down river and would have been very hard to stop it," said Carter.
Hawkins County officials say this was their second water rescue in two days.
