KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Update (10:30 p,m.): It was a messy night outside, but conditions improved after a night of strong storms. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remained in effect for the Northern Valley ending until 10:45 p.m. There were strong wind gusts up to 60 mph, but storms overall are dropping smaller hail.
Most of East Tennessee is under a Level 2 Slight Risk (yellow) and Level 3 Enhanced Risk (orange) for Sunday.
The main line of showers and storms move through this afternoon and evening. Timing looks to be from 4PM Sunday to 2AM Monday.
The biggest threats with these storms will be gusty winds (70mph+), quarter sized hail and heavy rain. Tornado chances are low.
MONDAY
Light rain still possible early Monday morning. The sunshine returns for the afternoon with temperatures in the upper 70s.
