LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — UPDATE: The Loudon County Sheriff's Office said the road was reopened around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

---

Two lanes of Eastbound I-40 are shut down after a semi-fire, Loudon County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) says.

Cpl. Cody Bengal with LCSO says it's likely the brakes on the semi-trailer caught fire first, causing the trailer to catch on fire. Bengal tells 10News the driver was able to disconnect the truck from the trailer, so the truck itself did not catch fire.

LCSO and the Loudon County Fire/Rescue Squad are at the scene at the 364 mile marker as of Sunday just before 7 a.m.

The road is expected to be closed for 6 to 8 hours, LCSO tells us. As of just before 11 a.m., both lanes were still closed.

Crews are working to clear the scene, but in the meantime, drivers are urged to find alternate routes.

There were no reported injuries from the driver, according to LCSO.
