GATLINBURG, Tenn. — An expansion to Anakeesta will include an observation tower that will be the tallest point in downtown Gatlinburg.
Anakeesta, which just opened in September 2017, is embarking on a $6 million dollar expansion in 2020.
The wood and steel tower will offer breathtaking views of the Smokies from 655 feet about downtown Gatlinburg.
“Our iconic tower will be the crowning element on top of Anakeesta mountain,” Anakeesta co-founder and co-owner Bob Bentz, who also designed the tower, shared. “Visitors travel from all over the world to enjoy the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and now they will be able to experience 360-degree panoramic views right in the heart of downtown Gatlinburg.”
Anakeesta is also adding a new Smokehouse and Brewery restaurant with views of Mt. LeConte, a kid-friendly water feature that's meant to mimic a mountain stream, a new music stage, and more easy eating options.

“We listen to what our guests want and their feedback has inspired many of these exciting additions,” Michele Canney, Anakeesta VP of Marketing and Sales, explained. “More places to eat, adding areas for families to play and discover nature, and creating spaces to relax and enjoy these incredible views is what is important.”
There will also be a new play area for families to enjoy that will feature treehouses connected by a net challenge course and an extension to the existing botanical garden walkway.
