KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Final detailed routes and timetables of Knoxville Area Transit's "KAT Reimagined" plan were approved by the Knoxville Transportation Authority on April 25, 2024.
"This approval represents a significant step forward in advancing public transportation accessibility and effectiveness in Knoxville," KAT said in a press release.
The approved version includes two additional adjustments to the plan—fine-tuning time points on Route 22 and reinstating direct service to Flenniken Landing on Route 45, according to KAT.
KAT Reimagined's benefits include more bus service on several routes, consistent service seven days a week, access to more jobs, a new downtown connector route with service every 12 minutes and eight buses an hour connection to the University of Tennessee campus, KAT said.
“This updated network reflects our commitment to providing efficient, accessible, and reliable transit services to our community,” Knoxville's Director of Transit Issac Thorne said.
The new KAT Reimagined bus network will begin on August 26.
