GATLINBURG, Tenn. — Gatlinburg is at the top of the list for trending destinations, as people start to grow more confident that they can travel more this year since the COVID-19 vaccine is being distributed.
Officials said that Tripadvisor released their Top 10 Trending Destinations in the U.S. on Tuesday. It recognizes places that saw large increases in a combination of positive ratings and reviews over the last year. At the top of the list was Gatlinburg, which they said is good for travelers who want to hike, fish, raft or experience the great outdoors.
Pigeon Forge also made the list at number four, where officials said that travelers can find spots to both go camping and enjoy thrills at Dollywood.
A Tripadvisor survey also revealed that more than half of travelers are more likely to take an outdoor or nature trip than they were before the COVID-19 pandemic, which helped boost several outdoor destinations on the list.
Officials also named the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as the eighth-best national park in the country.
