KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The northbound lanes on Alcoa Highway are open and all units have cleared the scene after a commercial tractor-trailer crashed off the roadway down into a ravine early Tuesday morning, police said.
The crash occurred north on Alcoa Highway at Shoney’s around 4:00 a.m., according to the Alcoa Police Department.
The Alcoa Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to the scene.
APD said the driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to UT Medical Center by AMR. The driver is currently in critical condition.
