KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Highway Patrol said the driver of a tractor-trailer died after crashing in Roane County on Friday.
According to a report from THP, 37-year-old Charles Isabell was driving a tractor-trailer on I-40 eastbound in Roane County when he went off the road. Isabell reentered the roadway and crossed over both lanes of traffic before he crashed into a rock embankment, killing him.
THP said a second vehicle also hit the tractor-trailer. The driver of that car had no injuries.
The crash did cause severe traffic backup in the area, and the I-40 East near Rockwood was closed for several hours.
