THP: Driver charged with DUI after crashing head-on into police cruiser

The crash happened on Sunday in Hamblen County on US 25-E at Wilson-Hale Road. No one was injured in the crash.

HAMBLEN COUNTY, Tenn. — A man has been charged with DUI along with other charges after crashing head-on into a Morristown City Police cruiser.

According to a report from THP, the crash happened around 9:15 p.m. on March 6 on US 25-E at Wilson-Hale Road. 

Morristown Police was alerted that a driver, 35-year-old Antonio Santizo of Morristown, was driving on the wrong side of the road.

When a Morristown Police officer tried to initiate a stop with Santizo, he crashed into the officer's car head-on.

THP said that Santizo admitted to drinking six beers before the crash. Santizo was placed under arrest and taken to Hamblen County jail. He was charged with DUI, driving without a license, driving on the wrong side of the road as well as other charges.
