NEW MARKET, Tenn. — Charges are pending for one man after a chase on Highway 11 East in Jefferson County Tuesday afternoon, officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said.
They said that Timothy Sage, 30, from Kingsport, tried to run from police after a traffic stop. They also said he drove westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway, near Whitaker Road.
Sage was driving more than 120 miles per hour, officials said, and hit the right front corner of another car. He then drove into a ditch for around 100 yards and hit a concrete culvert, officials said, before rolling several times and stopping in the tree line.
Sage then fled into the wood before being arrested, officials said. He was sent to Jefferson Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, according to officials. The other car stopped in the left shoulder and no injuries were reported from it, but Sage's car was totaled and the other car had disabling damage, according to a release.
He said that he ran from the scene due to warrants, according to authorities. The New Market Police Department said they would file charges.
