KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, a vehicle fire on the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 shut down a ramp leading to Interstate 640 near Papermill Drive. The ramp was back open by 5:50 p.m. Eastern Time
The fire was reported around 5:03 p.m. on Monday near the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. The ramp was still completely closed off as of around 5:20 p.m.
TDOT said traffic was backed up on I-40 West for several miles, past the ramp to Interstate 275.
