TDOT: Two crashes cause backups at Pellissippi Pkwy. and I-40 split

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the crashes impacted westbound traffic on I-40 and southbound traffic on Pellissippi Pkwy.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Two crashes were reported on major Knoxville roads on Monday, causing backups.

The first was reported on Pellissippi Pkwy. at around 3:58 p.m. Eastern time. It blocked the left southbound lane of the road, causing traffic to back up to George Light Rd.

The second crash was reported on I-40 West at around 4:35 p.m. Eastern time. It blocked the left lane and both shoulders near the Turkey Creek exit, backing traffic up to near the Cedar Bluff exit.

The lanes were back open by 5:30 p.m. according to TDOT.
