NASHVILLE, Tenn. — TDOT said it would pause its road construction projects for the Memorial Day weekend.
According to TDOT, suspending lane closure projects will lessen delays and congestion as motorists travel over the holiday weekend.
Starting noon on Friday, May 26, TDOT will suspend all construction-related lane closures on interstates and state routes. The pause will last until 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30.
TDOT warned that motorists may still encounter some lane closures or restrictions while traveling through long-term construction projects.
TDOT stated that reduced speed limits will still be in effect in work zones. Drivers convicted of speeding through work zones where workers are present could face a fine of up to $500 among other charges.
