KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — I-40 East was temporarily closed Friday afternoon at Campbell Station Road after a multi-vehicle crash, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation. By 7:15 p.m. one lane of the road was still closed and two others were back open, TDOT said.
The crash was reported at 6:10 p.m. Eastern Time, according to TDOT. Cars were at a standstill near the Campbell Station Road exit and traffic was backed up to near Cedar Bluff at around 6:30 p.m. Dispatchers said injuries were reported in the crash.
The left lane of I-40 West was also blocked at the same location, according to TDOT. It was blocked due to "police activity."
All lanes were back open by 9:40 p.m., according to TDOT.
